Job Title: Publishing Content Specialist (Fluent English)

Location: Beijing, China

Job Purpose

·         Acquire, develop and project manage high quality topical and special issues and related bulk revenue according to targets;

·         Develop and maintain relations with editors, (potential) guest editors and authors;

·         Provide process guidance and timely status information to all stakeholders for all special issues and review articles in the assigned portfolio from idea to production stages;

·         Deliver positive contribution to overall team performance and process improvements

 

Key Responsibly

 

Develop and project manage high quality topical and special issues according to targets

·         Create actionable acquisition, publication and bulk sales plans in line with targets under supervision of publisher and team leader

·         Execute on publication plans

·         Monitor special content quality by tracking citations and downloads in comparison with regular content in publishing portfolio

·         Feedback quality reports to publisher, editors and guest editors as indicators of success and input for further portfolio strategy planning

·         Participate in editorial board meetings from time to time

·         Take full ownership and manage the publication process for special issues by tracking progress, guiding and chasing guest editors and authors, anticipating potential barriers and solving issues  

·         Ensure all special issues are published in time and in accordance to publication schedules and targets

·         Actively manage special issue publication budget towards year end

Develop and maintain relations with editors, (potential) guest editors and authors as well as internal stakeholders

·         Maintain excellent communications with journal editors, guest editors and authors

·         Establish productive collaboration with publishers

·         Act as single-point of contact for special content on all non-

·         production related matters for all stakeholders, internally and externally

Provide process guidance and timely status information to all stakeholders for all special issues and review articles in the assigned portfolio from idea to production stages

·         Liaise with guest editors  and review authors to confirm topic coverage, formats, and timelines, once the special issue / review proposal is accepted by publisher and editors

·         Generate special issue contracts and get these signed and stored

·         Send out thank you notes to guest editors and authors upon project completion

·         Set up EES system for special content

·         Maintain the pipeline of special issues and invited review articles by timely and accurately recording progress in SID/JCI

·         Liaise with journal managers and local supplier managers for production and dispatch matters Oversee invoicing of bulk deals

Deliver positive contribution to overall team performance and process improvements

·         Actively contribute to and participate in special content development initiatives such as further workflow improvement, participating in internal workshops, Non Solus updates, team meetings, etc. 

·         Pro-actively flag areas for improvement in relation to special content acquisition and publication

Job Title: Senior Government Affairs Manager/ Associate Director Government Affairs

 

Location: Beijing (preferred) / Shanghai

 

Job Purpose

The Senior Government Affairs Manager/Associate Director of Government Affairs is responsible for driving and supporting policy advocacy and business development for RE business in China by working with RE business divisions closely. The position reports into Director of Government Affairs, RE China. The position will be located in Beijing or Shanghai.

 

 

Key Result Areas

Support RE China businesses to put GR into its growth strategy 

·         Spend quality time with RE business divisions to understand their business and strategy as well as articulate implications and actionable plans for government engagement

·         Support RE business divisions to develop and put GR into its growth strategy

·         Concrete strategy and action plans should be developed and executed in support of business priorities and strategies. 

Effectively develop a network within key government departments in China

·         Effectively develop a network with Chinese government departments that can potentially impact Reed Elsevier businesses in China

·         have strong existing connections with Ministry of Health (MOH), State Food And Drug Administration (SFDA)

·         Capable of developing new connections with above and other relevant governments agencies

·         Develop and manage a list of key influencers and decision makers in those government departments/agencies and build impactful business relationships with them over time

Protect Reed Elsevier’s business interests in China by monitoring and influencing government policy related to business models

·         Monitor trends and changes within Chinese government policies related to RE businesses, inform business owners promptly on the potential impact of these trends and prevent any policy which could have negative impact RE business models

·         Proactively engage in dialogues with key decision makers and opinion leaders in developing positive policy for RE businesses 

Build and/or identify business development opportunities Reed Elsevier businesses in China

·         Support Elsevier business leaders by providing input on business development opportunities related with government and be responsible for refining / executing certain aspects of government engagement plan (e.g. strategic partnerships.) under guidance of business leader.

·         Identify business opportunities driven or influenced by central and local governments, work with business leaders to develop an integrated plan, be responsible for measurable outcomes related to government bodies.

Company image and reputation

·         Actively participate in international, national and industrial conferences, forums, etc in China; Present RE and business division as an innovative and responsible information provider for professionals

·         Effectively develop a network with relevant China media; systematically arrange positive media coverage on RE and its business divisions in China

·         Identify and prevent potential risk and damage to company image and reputation

·         Ensure that all of the above are completed in conjunction with the Reed Elsevier Corporate Communications team and business divisions’ corporate communication teams

 

Required skills and competencies

 

·         High Integrity & honesty. Strictly compliance with RE rules and code of conducts when dealing with government officials.

·         Deep knowledge of how Chinese government system works and the process of decision and policy making.

·         Knowledge about information industry and the key topics discussed in this industry.

Required Education and Experience:

·         At least 5-10 years in China government departments/agencies. Experience in healthcare and energy sector preferred.

·         Government plus multinational working experience preferred.

Job Title: Account Manager

 

Location: Beijing

 

Job Purpose

As a member Science and Technology Sales team of Elsevier, you will represent Life Sciences and Engineering & Technology products to prospects and customers in Research & Development across China.  You will be responsible for the achievement of product specific sales targets across accounts in order to contribute to the overall goals of the sales group. 

 

Key Result Areas

·         Identify, qualify, and close new business, as well as maintaining current relationships and the corresponding revenue streams

·         Develop sustainable relationships with all relevant decision makers and influencers at the customers and outside contacts necessary to engage the customer to cross sell and up sell Life Sciences products

·         Provide customer-based and market-based feedback on existing and future product areas
